Sorry been busy so not much of posting...

anyway this blog is going to be heavily censored and politically correct, whilst the planning of this trip from now on goes underground!

Reason being, I think there are too many people wanting to go on it, and too little willing to work for it, and too many opinions! so a core group of memebers willw ork on this while we constantly keep all updated of our progress!

I wish to thank all for thier heavy supprt and enthusiams, as we shape this dream to reality! I think we are limiting the journey to 5 bikes (3 pillions) a group of 8 which will be downsized if need be!

Located in Northwestern Tibet, the Chang Tang Wildlife Preserve is the second largest wildlife preserve on Earth. Some 300,000 square kilometers of Tibet's wilderness have been protected by the preserve since it was created in 1993. Chang Tang is one of the last undisturbed range lands in the world, and several endangered species inhabit the area. Among them is the chiru...

A chiru is a species of antelope native to the Tibetan Plateau. They inhabit China's Tibetan Autonomous Region (especially Chang Tang), along with neighboring Xinjiang Province and Qinghai Province.

Chang Tang Preserve itself is fascinating. Most of it rests at an altitude of between 14,500 feet and 16,500 feet, though there are a number of peaks over 20,000 feet. There are no forests because of the altitude and the land is too cold for farming.

Besides chirus, the preserve is inhabited by yaks, Tibet's wild ass, blue sheep, gazelles, the common wolf, brown bears, the lynx, snow leopards, foxes and rabbits. Only the wolf is not legally protected.

About half of the preserve is alpine steppe, but there is also bare rock and glacier land that supports almost no vegetation. And there is desert in the north of the preserve.

National Geographic Radio Expedition recent sent a team to Chang Tang in search of the birthing ground of the migratory chiru.

Chiru are endangered in part because of the fine quality of their wool; a shawl made of chiru wool can sell for as much as $15,000 U.S.

The chiru has been studied in depth. But until now one great secret remained: no one had been able to determine where female chiru go each year to give birth.??

In 1997 I took my first ride on the Chang Tang. I was there in the winter time and only cycled a bit in the outskirts of it. I really got intrigued by the vastness, desolation and grandeur of nature. An obsession was born.

Year 2000 it was time for a crossing of the whole plateau from the north to the south. Due to incorrect route descriptions from a wannabe mountain guide/expedition leader, we ended up being stuck in the northern parts of the Kunlun mountain range for two weeks. No way to even get up unto the plateau.

In the year of 2002, we tried again. First we wanted to make some “warm-up” cycling. We planned to go along the standard route from Kashi/Kashgar on the Xinjiang highway onto the plateau and over the Kerriya Shankou/Pass. We did, but underestimated the difficulties and we ended up in a very dangerous situation in areas where for example great explorer Sven Hedin had had to turn around. Bowen, another explorer lost many men there and we were actually happy to get out of it alive. After that episode, we were in no condition to continue with our plan to cross the whole of the Chang Tang, but as a reward we had made the first un-supported crossing of the Kerriya-route.

2003. Still obsessed with the idea, we made another try. Started from Gansu province and continued through the high altitude deserts of Qinghai province. Had some minor trouble with “forbidden areas” due to oil prospecting and lost contact with an expedition member because of Chinese protective interests.

At first glance it looked like a herd of cattle had preceded us on the Chang Tang, but those mounds are actually dwarf shrubs. When we cut one open, it had 50 rings, which means that in half a century it had grown no bigger than a cow pie.

This was our logistical challenge: to trek across 275 miles (442 kilometers) of the northern Chang Tang—a lonely, often hilly steppe—with no opportunity to resupply. Inspired by the overland sledges used by polar explorers, we designed a ricksha that could carry our tents, sleeping bags, clothes, and camera gear, plus a slingshot, bear mace, and four celebratory cans of beer. Three prototypes and almost $20,000 later, we took delivery of four aluminum rickshas. They handled pretty well, but could have used a few extra horsepower.

Such an expedition is easier to sell and hencve easier to raise funding fo. much of this terrai is going tobe off road - or on a road which is non existent. its going to be challenge on man and machinery! Leaving us with a huge task ahead - hey but thats what we are here for!

what if we changed the route a bit - and avioded Kailsh/Mansarovar -

...... and instead headed more north into TIbet - going on the road to Quinghai province - and then turning off to cut right accross the famous 'chang - tang' valley (a cold desert with lost of wildlife)...

....... and then come down to Rutok - then - Ali (Shiquanhe) head south along NH 219 to Gartok and then hopefully eneter india via the indus.

Anything is possible! After seeing the images of 'Chang tang' and reading about it in the NG MAG - its got me thinking..

The Aksai Chin road!

A condominium for Aksai Chin would not face many of the challenges that other condominiums had to confront. First and foremost, nobody lives permanently on the high plateau. Therefore, there is no question of stakeholders other than the two States: India and China. Secondly, no natural resources such oil, minerals have been discovered so far, therefore there is no need for a complicated sharing mechanism.

The trickiest issue to solve would be the right to transit across the region. China would continue to have the same facilities that she is presently enjoying. In the future, it is essential for India to reopen the trade route to Kashgar through the Karakoram Pass. Though technically this route is not cutting through the occupied area, this provision would have to be included in a general settlement.

A few weeks ago, China Daily mentioned that a similar solution was proposed by Deng Xiaoping in the seventies for the disputed Diaoyu Islands between Japan and China, 'to promote friendly relations and pursue a win-win compromise with Japan, late Chinese leader Deng Xiaoping proposed the two countries seek common exploitation of the islands while shelving disputes over the ownership of them.'

With the Aksai Chin issue solved, many other issues could fall into place. The others sectors of the border would be comparatively easier to sort out.

Another advantage for both India and 'Tibet's Region of China' would be that the old trade route between Leh and Gartok could be immediately reopened and subsequently the pilgrimage road to Kailash-Mansarovar. It would be a great boon for Hindu and Buddhist pilgrims who would be able to travel by car in two days from Leh to the sacred mountain.

The main question remains: is the time ripe for settlement?

The Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister, Mufti Mohammad Sayeed, today said the state government was planning to open a land route to Kailash Mansarovar via Ladakh and he would soon take up the issue with the Ministries of External Affairs and Defence.

“The route to Mansarovar via Ladakh will be easier than the existing one through Uttaranchal and will also boost the economy of the region,’’ Mr Sayeed told reporters on the sidelines of the Sindhu Darshan festival here.

“The state government will soon raise the issue with the Centre and urge it to consider the proposal urgently which will not only provide succour to thousands of pilgrims but also develop the region,’’ the Chief Minister said.

Dismissing allegations that the ongoing Sindhu Darshan festival had failed to attract tourists as in previous years, Mr Sayeed said domestic and international tourists had arrived in large numbers. However, the rescheduling of the festival due to government formation and the Lok Sabha session might be responsible for the decline in the number of tourists. The three-day festival, which began today in a picturesque location along the banks of the Sindhu, was earlier scheduled for June 11-13.

However, unlike previous years, the festival did not begin with puja being offered to the river by a host of Central Ministers and locals were of the opinion that this would ensure more participation by the locals especially Buddhists.

Describing Ladakh as an all-season tourist destination, Mr Sayeed said apart from pilgrimage tourism the region had tremendous potential for advance tourism. “The state government will also take up the issue of starting trekking for tourists in the region with help from the Defence Ministry.’’

Finally the moment we all were waiting for came - we were at the Indo-China
border - the reason for the expedition. The mountain appeared - it stood boldly
in black, in stark contrast to its pastel shaded peers.In shape of a Trishul (Tri-pointed weapon used by Hindu God Shiva), it gives birth to the name
Chusul. Incidentally, the name of the regiment that serves the nation in
this region is also Chusul. It took sometime for the thought to seep in that
2 kilometers away from where I was standing, was China.

Day 1,2 & 3

Lhasa: (Previously arrived from Kathmandu) rest

Walk around, bike around enjoy and explore Lhasa.

Day 4

Depart Lhasa Early Morning (5 – 6 am)

Bike 256 kms to arrive at Shigatse (5 – 6 pm)

I know this is a lot of riding, but as we would have already done Shigatse – Lhasa, it should be easier. And there is a long way to go.

Day 5

Shigatse: Rest. In case didn’t make it previous day, then arrive at Shigatse; Maintenance and Repairs.

Stay at Shigatse Hotel Accommodation (3 Star available!)

Day 6

Depart Shigatse to Lhatse (157 kms)

Stay at Lhatse Hotel accommodation

Day 7

Depart Lhatse – to Sangsang. (123 Kms)

Stay at Sangsang. Simple Hotel accommodation

Depart from Sangsang – to Saga (180 kms)

Stay at Saga. Simple Hotel accommodation (maybe!)

Day 9

Depart from Saga – to Zhongba (145 kms)

Rest/ catch up on any ground lost over the past couple of days riding.

Leave Zhongba – to Baga (Mansarovar)

384 kms Have to find a place to stay on the way no towns, will probably have to pitch camp or stay with nomads. Also more importantly will have to carry about 10 liters of fuel extra.

Day 13

Rest Day at Baga, Mansarovar. Spend the day in and around Mansarovar! Maybe take a walk up Kailish?

*Re –Fuel* - how I do not know, but have to get someone to leave some fuel for us here!

Day 14

Leave Baga, Mansarovar – to Moinder (150 kms)

Stay night at Moinder – freezing cold and in tents!

Day 15

Leave Moinder – to Gar (180 kms)

Gar is a largish town, so maybe our first bath after 4 days and hopefully a bed!

Day 16

Rest Day at Gar. Maybe go to Ali Shiquanhe and see the vegetable market – 20 kms.

As usual catch up on any lost ground.

Day 17

Leave Gar - to Rutok Xian (127 kms)

Reach Rutok final city/town in China. Stay in hotel.

Day 18

Rest at Rutok.

On the banks of Pangong – and so should not be a problem getting through the day. Also rest relax and catch up on any lag.

Day 19

Rest at Rutok.

This could be an important day as we have to get papers for clean exit and permission sorted out. Might be a bit of delay.

Day 20

Leave Rutok – Leave China!

Not sure how we going to do this, but if we bike its about 200kms before we reach the Indian Check post. Other option is we raft it. Can we put 2 500ccs on a raft? Its 130 kms of rafting to reach the Indian post on Pangong.

If we bike we have to cover this area of 200 kms on no actual Road – just barren ground, and we have to cover it in One Day only or else we are screwed.

Day 21

If we are lucky we will be in INDIA! Arrive on the banks of Pangong and rest. Catch up on any lost ground and time. Last minute repairs and tinkering before the Grand Finale! Empty all reserve fuel into Tanks.

Day 22

We leave Pangong Tso – to Leh. 167 kms

Cross Chang La, Sakti and join the NH1 – Indian Highway – to go to Leh about 20 kms from Karu! Arrive in Leh comfortable by 2 pm.

Celebrate!!

Day 23, 24, 25

Rest at Leh. Those interested can take a trip to Hemis, Khardungla and maybe even Tso Mo Riri. Repair bikes, and buckle up.

Day 26

Leave Leh for Seerchu. (250 kms)

If we can make it, then we go on to Keylong and stay at a hotel or else it is the HPTDC tents at Seerchu. 150 Rs per night inclusive of food!

Day 27

Leave Seerchu – to Manali (200 kms)

Arrive in Manali in late evening, find a place to stay (not a problem), and generally think about what you have achieved.

Day 28

Rest at Manali. Smell the last few breaths of fresh air and mountain breeze. Maybe go to Solang Nala and Hidamaba Temple!

Day 29

Leave Manali early (6 am) – to Delhi (600 kms)

Clean roads, a bit zigzag until you reach Punjab then its cruising that last 400 kms to Delhi. Arrive in Delhi by 6 pm to receive a standing ovation!! J

Brief Intro

Capt.Raj runs the Indian Sheperds - biking tours into and around the himalayas. They do all the ladakh business to the Mansarovar tours.

Points taken and agreed on (?) in the meeting
1. All bikes to be 500 cc ( i still feel a 350cc willd o for single riders)
2. Tyres need to be Dual Sports (or something of the same sound)
3. Need two months to comfartably do it.
4. Need a backup vehicle to carry tenting/cook and most impttly Fuel!
5. Hardly any P/Stations, need to arrange for fuel
6. All accommodation, permits, visa and food can be taken care of him (in china)
7. Are we having a TV crew?

The route as i see it has 2 stages -

Stage 1: The Kathmandu - Lhasa Friendship highway! 953 kms accross 4 passes (5600 mts or >) crossing, EBC (Everest BAse Camp), and staying at the three star at Shigatse!

Stage 2: Backtrack to Shigatse/Lhatse then head off along NH 219 to Xingxang, along the brahmaputra, past Mansarovar/Kailash, then head to Ali Shiquanhe, turn off at Rutok, and cross into india Along pangon by bike, or accross pangong by Boat. Cross Marsimik la (worlds highest road) and enter ladakh regoin, ending at Leh.

Stage 3 (optional) Cruise back to Delhi in 3 days from Leh. Leave leh at 5 am , spend the night at Keylong, next day bike to Manali, rest and enjoy. Third day lave Manali 5 am arrive Delhi 6pm! Celebrate!

Mr.Xuang: OH yes, you see we don’t have a problem you going anywhere, except you CANNOT do it on a normal tourist visa. You need a special visa and an entry permit. For which you will have to contact the Beijing office for application. You will also have to tie up wih a travel agent in your country as well as a local agent.

The Friend Ship highway lies between kathmandu(Nepal) and lhasa(Tibet,China). Though it is termed as a "highway", its more of a bit of ruble layed out and covered by snow! It crosses upto 4-5 passes above 5000 mts and has snow on it for 365 days a year. in summer the streams cut away part of the highway, making it treachorously dangerous. Nevertheless it cant be more challenging and exciting...

A very kind soul, has put up a very high resolution map of the journey (satellite photo) and even marked the highway out for us! This is by far the best proof we have of an existing route along the journey. bang through kailash-mansarovar regions....

the reason i am posting so many photos(sattelite) and maps, is to overcome this belief that we are "creating" a road. I insist,we are not, but are simply creating A journey from existing roads!

Came accross this while seatching for some more infp. This person has done the 7500 kms trip to beijing.

With the closure of traditional trade routes between India and China like the Old Hindustan Tibet road in Himachal Pradesh and the Kalingpong to Lhasa route, the capitals of the two country's are now connected only with one all weather metalled roadway, via Nepal. Starting from Delhi, one has to first ride through the State of Uttar Pradesh and then cross over into Nepal and proceed towards Kathmandu, either directly or by slightly longer route, through Nepalganj and Pokhra.

The Sino-Nepal Highway starts from here, reaching up to Lhasa covering a distance of over 2500 km across the Himalayas and the Friendship Bridge into the Tibetan Plateau. Beyond Lhasa there are two alternative ways for proceeding towards Beijing. One is through Naqu and Golmund via the Quinghai-Tibet Highway in the north before turning north-east (the route of the 1997 Peking to Paris Rally), the other is via the Sichuan-Tibet Highway (No. 318 National Trunk Highway) to Chengdu in the east and then turn northwards towards Xian and to Beijing.

The preferred route would of course be the eastern one, i.e., via Chengdu, with a detour to Dali and Kunming via the Yunnan-Tibet Highway (a section of No.214 National Trunk Highway) and then onwards to China's ancient capital Xian, the nearby sacred Huashan mountains and culminating in historic Beijing. All places of historical and cultural importance, each playing a significant role in shaping the destiny and traditions of their country.

A rought idea of the itenarary from Kathmandu to Lhasa (via Shigatse)....

Day 1 Flight to Nepal.
Day 2 Arrival in Nepal in the morning. Transfer to Dulikhel. We get to know each other and the motorcycles and enjoy the first sights of the Himalayan range.
Day 3 From Dulikhel along green Hills and terraces towards Tibet. From 400 m up to 3200 m at Nyalam.
Day 4 A first glimpse of the Himalayan panorama in Tibet. Xsisangpangma and Cho Oyo are (hopefully) visible on our way to Shegar.
Day 5 Further on to Shigatse, Tibets second largest city.
Day 6 A long trip to Lhasa.

The highest road ever built! Just next o Pangong and China, we should be crossing this at some time. Its called Marsimik La (La meaning pass) and is about 500 ft higher then Khardungla (which is officially known as the highest motorable road in india! At khardungla there is always snow so i can only imagine what Masirmik would be like!

So the top 5 are all in ladakh

1 Masirmik la (we cover this) (some 6300 mts ASL)
2 Khardungla (some 600 mts ASL)
T3 anglang La (5800 mts ASL)
4 Chang La (We cover this) (5700 Mts ASL)

Now thats a good place to be photographed! The bikes - thats the key. Will we get a bike that makes it through? I say a souped up Royal Enfield maybe the thunderbird for single riders and 500cc for riders with pillion. By souped up i mean -

upgraded (gas) suspension, disc brakes (front), heated hand grips (?), shock proof boxes and carrier for backpacks, provision to add a GPS on the dash board (next to the speedometers), Fog lights, upgrade 12V DC battery, Warmers (to keep the engines from getting cold at night), Tubeless tyres (boy what a difference this could make), strong clutch and brake cables, 45 litre fuel tank (or 22 liter but 45 is better).......

thats the bike part (with more to come) what else will we need? here goes..

GIS maps with elevation, route and climate details (?)
Solid gloves (to keep ur fringers from breaking off)

Lhasa literally meaning “Holy-Land”, is the heart and soul of Tibet, it has history of more than 1,300 years. Lhasa has remained Tibet's capital since 1642, and most of the city's historical sights date from the second stage of the city's development since the fifth Dalai Lama. Buddhism is a center form of Tibetan daily lifestyle. Monasteries and various temples are clustered in the city.

Lady's temple

Among those shrines, a ladies temple is quite unique and interesting. It is located within the Lhasa city in a residential area. Driving from downtown area will only take about 30 minutes. There are more than 150 lady monks living in the temple with a center garden and few souvenir shops. Residents in this temple will not participate in any activities outside the compound. They read Buddhist script, study Lamaism and helping each other with daily works. Tourists are allowed to enter, but limited to the worship area only.

Lhasa city has an elevation of 3,658 m, the city also known as Sunlight City, is the highest city in the world.

In Tibetan language, Lhasa means "The land of the Gods". Lhasa enjoys delightful weather, throughout all the seasons. The average temperature is 7.4 census. Most of the yearly rainfall hits in July, August and September.

From Lhasa to Samye Temple, one of the very significant Tibetan Buhdast monasteries takes about 4 hours by car. Then to shorten the distance, we got to the closest dock to cross the Yaluzampu river by boat. In a normal day, the boat operator will wait for a full load of passengers before departure. It only costs 15 RMB per person. However, if you are in a hurry, an option of paying 190RMB could satisfy the boat owner starts the engine immediately.

From the bank, the yaluzampu rive looks calm and narrow. I thought it would only take us 15 minutes to cross it. However, in a low water season, we had to take extra distance going up and down the river to avoid stock in the shallow riverbed. This way we spent more than an hour on the journey instead of 15 minutes. Everyone on the boat seemed to enjoy the trip and the stunning scenery, but the operator was so intense on his work. He had to fully concentrate on the invisible river route to make sure the boat will not get stocked. When we approached the parking dock, it was such a release showed on his face that everyone was happy of a safe landing. Nevertheless the way to reach Samye temple is not finish yet.

Samye was Tibet's very first monastery and has a history that spans over 1,200 years. It is designed to represent the Buddhist universe and many of the buildings in the courtyard are cosmological symbols. The central building of Samye, its foremost feature, comprises a mixture of architectural styles: the ground and first floors were originally Tibetan in style, the second floor was Chinese and the third floor was Indian.

With unique culture and religion, Tibetans have different ways of behavior in many aspects. There is an old Chinese saying: "Sing the local songs when you get to a local place." So please keep in mind the following tips:

1. Remember not to step on threshold when entering the tent or house.

2. Calling somebody in name please add "la" behind the name to express respects.

3. If you are asked to sit down, please cross your legs, do not stretch your legs forward and face your sole to others.

4. You should accept the gift with both hands. While presenting the gift you should bend your body forward and hold the gift higher than your head with both hands. While offering tea, wine or cigarette, you should offer them by both hands and any fingers do not tough inside of the bowl.

5. Do not touch, walk over or sit on any religious texts, objects or prayer flags in monasteries.

6. When the host presents you a cup of wine, you should dip your ring finger in the wine and flick the wine into the sky, in the air and to the ground respectively to express your respects to the heaven, the earth and the ancestors before sipping the wine. The host will fill the cup, and you take a sip of the wine again. After the host fills your cup again, you have to bottom it up.

7. Tibetan people do not eat horse, dog and donkey meat and also do not eat fish in some areas, so please respect their diet habits.

8. It is not polite to clap your palms and spit behind the Tibetan people.

9. Tibetan people stretch out their tongue to say hello to you. Also it is a courtesy to put their hands palm in front of breast.

10. Do not smoke in monasteries. Also it is banned to touch the statue of Buddha and religious articles and take pictures of them. In addition, all should walk clockwise (not in the Bon temples).

11. Seeing any dagobas, monasteries or Mani piles, please go around them clockwise (not of the Bon), do not cross them.

12. Eagles are the sacred birds in the eyes of the Tibetan people. You should not drive them away or injure them. On the outskirts, you could not drive or disturb the sheep or cows with red, green or yellow cloth strips on

Following the original route, then we should be passing Mt.Kailash somewhere along the area before Rutog. Somewhere near gartok.Journeys to Kailash are conducted on Toyota Land Cruisers, and follow no road as teh whole are is barren and flat.

Having sent a letter to the Chinese embassy and the defense ministry it is a question and matter of time, before any further progress. It is hard to think further until this conditional permission has been given by the respective countries. Being the first trip through this area, I think the chances are slim, but with India China relations at a high, maybe things could change here!

The area with trouble! The part between Rutog and Lukung, where we have to pass throught about 100 kms of No Mans Land! Have to get permission from the chinese to exit the country, and permission from the Indians to enter!so this is the tricky part!

Am still wondering, how hard its going to be to persuade the chinese to allow me to bring in bikes from India and ride it around!Was thinking of trying to get a chinese manafacturer but then it woudl probably me a use and throw bike! which means we woudl need about 20 (for the 20 legs of the journey!!) :)

Don't buy the newspaper on August 16th... I'll tell you whats going to be in there...

In the first page, you will have kids from the red fort parade waving flags or performing. Or you will have a pic of indian army might (missiles, army regiment, battle tanks, LCAs, etc).

In the articles in the front page, the journalist would have interviewed a security guy, who would say- "Security is beefed up and we have so much work to do. This is real hard work. I am working many hours a day and I won't get to celebrate Independence Day with my family

In another article, a kid performing in the parade will tell the journalist he is very excited. His parent accompanying him will tell the reporter that the child has practiced real hard and will make him proud.

Our PM will ask the nation to recollect the sacrifices of our freedom fighters and get inspired to fulfil their vision. He will enumerate the achievements of our nation and tell us that though we are doing very well, we need to do better.

Somewhere else, there will be a photo of the governor of the state in the states celebrations, or the CM giving a speech, recounting the efforts of freedom fighters and reminding us of our duty towards the nation.

In the 'india' section, there will be a pic of a coolie sleeping in the shade on the pavement at 40 degree heat or a woman hard at work, with the subtitle: "Its just another day for this person. 'If I take a holiday today, who will feed my family?'"

Another article will concentrate on NGOs and what they did for the disadvantaged sections of society. A head of some NGO will lament on the lack of interest on the part of the youth today. He will also call for funds to help them out of a financial crunch situation. The article will end with **** is an NGO working for the upliftment of ****. Mr.**** **** can be reached at 98*** *****. In the international news section, there will be an article on pakistans independence day, where they elicit the views of liberal douches in media there. They will blabber about the indo-pak peace process as they do not know anything else to talk about.

Till Aug 15th, Bangalore Times will have articles asking celebs and yuppie college kids from pseud colleges/schools (MCC, Cottons, et al) what independence means to them. On Aug 16th, it will carry articles on how sexless creatures (rahul bose), ugly subhumans (kareena kapoor) or the same 'yo-man, wassup' brigade mentioned earlier spent the day. It might even throw in a poll or ask for readers opinions to fool them into thinking they actually care for the baloney they eagerly send to the editor.

The end of of that really sweaty trip has just lead to widespread chaos and panic amongst the rest as the projects have been muddled up and completely re vamped. and keeping in mind that the deadline for this is may then its a little more on the panic side.

Some interestingparts of the trip. when i lured mrina into facing the hidjadas alone. We were sitting ont he 2 seater on the side aand as the hidjadas were asking the people opposite us i queitly slipped out to our other compartment - man did they give her a tough time.

we spent about 8 hours a day travveling by car with twi maniac M.P drivers who seemed like they had just ended an extremely painful relationship and wanted to take the extreme step - thank god they didnt!

If u guys ever got o M.P Try the Dal Batti it is a one stop remedy to keep you at home (the loo o be preceise) for a few days guarenteed! They are bread balls baked in an oven of orten deep freid and then served with dal. Its a north indian's versionof Raggi Mudde!

I did make it back alive: in fact the Jains fed me so well my stomach has gained an extra tyre! More comming up soon with some pretty awemose pics!

script to send Variables to PHP

If any of you wantt o send a variable to a PHP file on the server then here are 2 scripts to do so:

There are two ways. Assuming you have a var called "myVar" and you are sending it to a PHP page called myphppage.php using POST,1) reccomended:

var ldPHP=new LoadVars()
ldPHP.myVar="some value here"
ldPHP.onLoad=function(success){
if(success) {
trace("succesfully sent the varaible");
} else {
trace("failed to send the variable");
}
}
ldPHP.sendAndLoad("myphppage.php",ldPHP,"POST");

2)

code:
myVar="some value here"
loadVariables("myphppage.php",_root,"POST")

The LoadVars method is better as it tells you if the call has been succesful or not.In the PHP page, the variable can be accessed as if sent by a form submission
